Reiki healing was first introduced to the world in Japan in the early 1900s. In fact, the word Reiki is a combination of two Japanese words. The first part, “rei” means extensive, and “ki,” implies energy. So when placed together, the Reiki means extensive energy.
Reiki is a form of healing that involves the transfer of energy from the patient to the healer. The healer places their hands on or above an area on the patient’s body and absorbs the power to their body.
Experts in reiki healing believe that a person’s pain, whether physical or emotional, is accumulated in the energy around them, their suffering can be sensed based on the energy they put out.
Therefore, Reiki aims to eliminate lousy energy by transferring it from the patient to the healer. From there, the healer absorbs the force, learns more about you, and how to help, the disposes of the hurt.
People believe that the energy they have around them, whether good or bad, can and will affect the relationship they have with people. People being your family, friends, or total strangers. It is, therefore, vital that your energy is restored to its original state.
How to perform Reiki healing
The most preferred set up is a quiet room, it is not a mandatory requirement, but it does create an intimate setting where you, as the healer connects more with the patient without any distraction.
The patient can sit on a chair or lie down on a table; this will depend on where the pain is and what will be the easiest way to access it, the patient will also have a say in this, what makes them feel comfortable, sitting or laying down. It is important to note that the patient is fully clothed, unlike other healing processes that require the patient naked.
The practitioner proceeds to lay their hands on the patient. They were spending time on areas that need attention, especially if the area has physical pain or has an injury. The healer will know it worked when they feel the heat on their own hands, which means that they were able to transfer the energy.
Traditionally, the Reiki only required the use of hands. The header used them on the patient, and that is all that was needed. Nowadays, people incorporate other methods of energy healing into Reiki—for example, the use of chakra stones and other wands. Some experts in the field believe that the most effective way Reiki is done is the traditional way.
How effective is reiki healing
There is a lot of criticism of Reiki in modern medicine. Experts say that it cannot provide healing to a sick patient. Reiki has no evidence of healing diseases.
Although Reiki cannot heal diseases, it can, as experts have said, provide relaxation and calmness to a patient. Some hospitals across the USA have Reiki services.
To conclude on the effectiveness of Reiki, it can offer some form of relief. The medical environment, however, does not support the healing of severe medical conditions by Reiki. There is no proof that Reiki can heal.
